Research and Recording update

As of January 2021, we have completed 80 dossiers on our locally important sites,  available to view via our Research and Recording page. The new ones added in 2020 are: Bradwell Manor in Milton Keynes, Ceeley House (Bucks County Museum), Greenlands (Hambleden), Hampden House and two more parks in Milton Keynes, Caldecotte Lake and Ouzel Valley.

The Covid pandemic has slowed our progress on some sites, in particular those where visits had been arranged and are now postponed until restrictions are lifted. These include Stockgrove Park, Liscombe Park, Newlands Park, the Vache, Wittington, the Old House Swanbourne and Swanbourne House school, Dorney Wood and Tile House mansion (Akeley Wood senior school). Research has continued online however, with archives and museums introducing strict Covid regulations and then closing for a third time, so accessing records has been extremely challenging.

There are a few sites that despite all these problems are nearing completion and these will be available to view once they have been sent out to the owners for consultation. These include Akeley Wood School (junior), Penn House, Crawley Grange, Waterhall Park and Ouse Valley Park (MK). We will highlight any new additions in our news posts, so please check them out.

Once all the sites mentioned above are completed, we will be nearing the 100 sites target. All this work has been achieved in less than eight years (the project was started in 2013 when we received funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund). Congratulations to all our dedicated volunteers who have contributed to this excellent project.
