After taking his degree in History and History of Art from Cambridge, and following postgraduate research at Oxford, Roger White worked as a historian in the Historic Buildings Division of the Greater London Council. He has served as the Secretary of the Georgian Group, and was elected a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries in 1986. As a leading authority on Georgian landscape architecture, Mr White has curated highly praised exhibitions, been involved in the restoration of Painswick Rococo Garden, delivered lectures in London and the United States, and written widely in such publications as Architectural History and the Journal of Garden History, and is a regular contributor to Country Life.
