Visit to Lindengate, Wendover Road, Aylesbury – Wednesday 12th July

If you missed this visit to a truly amazing and unique garden then put it on your bucket list. Their aim is better health and wellbeing through nature

Lindengate is a community garden based next to Dobbies Garden Centre, Wendover and is an amazing ordered patchwork which actively contributes to the wellbeing and health of the community of  volunteers and participants. They are passionate about conservation and nature and  protecting the environment and have a team of 200 volunteers who help run the gardens.

Anne and Jacqui acted as our guides through the many and varied gardens which make up this garden ranging from the Apothecary Garden, to a Heritage Orchard, Labyrinth, Giant Armchair & Community Beds, a Sensory Garden, Tree and Wildflower Nursery and a number of RHS donated award winning gardens. They organise a wide ranging number of activities through out the year including a Memory Pathways programme for people living with memory loss or dementia and their carers.

The gardens are open Wednesday to Friday 11am – 4pm and Saturday 1pm-4pm and worth a visit. There is no charge for admission but a donation is appreciated. They can be contacted on info@lindengate.org.uk or 01296 622443. Anne and Jacqui were an inspiration and we were all amazed at what lay behind that Aylesbury to Wendover Road hedge. Thank you.  Gwen Miles

The photographs taken by Claire de Carle show some of the gardens that we saw in the Lindengate community garden.
