We are delighted to announce that Great Linford Manor Park has been recognised for two BALI National Landscape Awards and came Highly Commended for a CIRIA Big Biodiversity Challenge Award.

BALI National Landscape Awards

The BALI (British Association of Landscape Industries) National Landscape Awards are the largest landscaping awards in Europe and offer a platform to showcase landscape achievements. For Great Linford Manor Park, the two awards recognise the achievements of the main contractor in two categories: Regeneration and Community & Schools Development.

In their summary, judges commented on “very strong community engagement throughout the regeneration and restoration of this park”. We were pleased to work with Ground Control on this project and we’re delighted with the result.

CIRIA Big Biodiversity Challenge Awards

The Big Biodiversity Challenge Awards, hosted by CIRIA, celebrate projects that demonstrate the importance of engaging with and understanding biodiversity. This includes creating biodiversity champions in the organisation or developing programmes that engage with the local community.

The Great Linford Manor Park project was highly commended in the awards in recognition of its impressive engagement with the local community. Since 2017, our team and volunteers have worked with over 29,000 people to share the stories of the park’s natural and historical heritage through more than 500 events. People of all ages have enjoyed helping to restore the park’s habitats and historic features, creating a drystone wall, hedge laying and constructing woodchip paths.

The Friends of Great Linford Manor Park have volunteered many hours to help us care for the parkland, including maintaining vegetation, creating habitat piles and making space for nature.

During COVID-19, visitors could continue to enjoy the parkland as we adapted our activities to work online, filming many videos and interviews with experts. These videos are available on YouTube.

Now, the park is a vibrant and beautiful place that showcases Milton Keynes’ beautiful nature and history side-by-side. We look forward to seeing the restored landscape mature and be enjoyed for generations to come.
