Help people in horticulture this Christmas!!
On a recent trip to Herefordshire, I was fortunate to visit The Laskett the former home of Sir Roy Strong and his late wife Julia Trevelyan Oman. The garden is an artistic creation which evolved over four decades, although it is in the formal garden tradition it has elements taken from the last 500 years of garden history. The major influences are from both Italian renaissance gardens and the gardens of Tudor and Stuart England and with elements of the revivalist gardens of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras thrown in. It is an extremely personal garden reflecting the couple’s extensive successful careers in the Arts, but above all their love for each other and of gardening.
In 2015, Sir Roy Strong bequeathed the garden to Perennial (formerly The Gardeners Benevolent Institution) this included a generous endowment to ensure the maintenance for years to come. Perennial is an amazing charity whose aim is ‘to build better lives for those in horticulture’.
Please consider making a donation or purchasing your Christmas cards from them so they can continue their vital work particularly in the current economic climate.
