Audience Engagement at Haddenham Open Gardens
Last Sunday afternoon we took our gazebo along to Haddenham to the popular open gardens event in aid of the Florence Nightingale Hospice. There were twelve gardens open around the village and we set up at the Scout Hut in Banks Park, next to the ticket tent. Most people walk the route, so it takes all afternoon, and they are keen to get started, we managed to engage with those queuing for tickets. There was a steady flow of visitors throughout the afternoon as some returned for tea at the hut, they enjoyed a large selection of cakes, an essential for garden visitors!!
As always tends to be the case few people had heard of the Buckinghamshire Gardens Trust and we enlightened them about our work, and a number were very interested so we may pick up some new members. It was a lovely warm afternoon and the Haddenham volunteers raised a considerable amount for the charity.
I would like to thank our volunteers Mick Thompson, Clare Butler and Louise Keil for their help.
Also, a huge thank you to Gwen and Peter Miles who kindly store all the equipment in their garage and come along to every event to set up the gazebo, tables and displays.
We are attending three more events across the summer, so please come along and support us or perhaps volunteer to help:
