Dear All
Last week I enjoyed an evening visit to Old Keeper’s Cottage in Hedgerley Bucks, the visit was organised by Hedgerley Historical Society and I joined them on a recce.
We were given an excellent talk by the owners at Hedgerley Memorial Hall, by the end the sun had broken through the clouds and we made the short walk across the road to Keeper’s Cottage.
The photographs in the talk had given us a taste of what to expect but the garden looked stunning in the evening light and refreshed by the recent rain.
The setting is idylic with seating areas to admire the views across the sheltered, sunken site, the church just being visible through the trees. All is surrounded by meadow areas and mature trees.
A cottage garden has been created over the last eleven years, from a garden that was previously laid to lawn, as with most gardens there are plans to make some changes but the planting, particular the roses and foxgloves was already stunning.
I hope to arrange a visit and talk for Bucks Gardens Trust next year, but if you can not wait until then it is open next Sunday 14 July 1-4.30pm for NGS.
