Dear BGT Council, Trustees and members,
Gwen came yesterday afternoon and ceremoniously presented me with a delightful box of Herefordshire rose wine to mark my stepping down (or falling off) the Council. As our esteemed Chaise Claire notes in her thank-you card with a lovely picture of our own Bletchley Park, it’s 28 years since Charles Boot and I set up BGT, with others of course, but I think I am the last founder to leave Council.
I have greatly enjoyed my time with all BGT members and friends, and, of the various tasks I’ve been involved with, I most value the experience of helping to run the Research and Recording project in its various aspects.
To fill the resulting spare time I am pursuing a book on grottoes– there are more to see in England than you might realise and I need to get round a fair number this summer before settling down to write about them in the winter. It will be called The English Grotto: Revealing the Enigma (due out 2027, Boydell and Brewer).
Thank you for all your friendship and support over such a long time,
Floreat BGT!
With many good wishes from your Chaise Emerita’
