Thank you: £1500 towards Fighting Fund

The Buckinghamshire Gardens Trust on Tuesday 17th June 6-9pm held  a Summer Social Evening at The Lilies, Weedon, by kind permission of Mr  & Mrs George Anson. This event by the Trust forms part of its response to the threat to the statutory consultee role and is in aid of The Gardens Trust ‘Fighting Fund Appeal’

50 members and friends attended and took advantage of the wonderful weather to explore the garden and go on the tours offered by Andrew McCarthy, Head Gardener and George Anson. English sparkling wine by Furnace Farms Barnes and canapes were served served in the garden whilst members were free to explore. An exhibition on the role of the Trust as a statutory consultee was on display in the gazebo and Jo Mirzoeff described a number of cases she had worked on as the representative to the Gardens Trust  for Buckinghamshire Gardens Trust.

The raffle was a great success with prizes ranging from a hamper from the Chiltern Brewery, family tickets for Kop Hill Climb, £50 vouchers for The Plant Specialist & Rowan Garden Centre, bottles of wine courtesy of Furnace Farms Barnes, baskets of cakes donated by The Country Market, Princes Risborough, a fresh Starveall turkey for Christmas, a trio of honey from the Lilies hives, Family membership plus the Gardens Trust Unforgettable Gardens book and a Pruning Roses tutorial from Colin, Head Gardener at Adwell for two people.

A huge thank you to George Anson for allowing the Trust to  hold this event in his garden and to Andrew McCarthy and the staff for their help in setting up the event and  all their hard work in the gardens. We were delighted that a number of them won raffle prizes.
