This talk will give an outline of how the gardens began and will include details on some of the notable plantings and specimens within the collection, originally introduced by Tim Whiteley, the founder of the garden. The talk will give details of how the team at Evenley Wood are conserving and evolving the collection for the future, including developing the woodland garden for today’s demands and for future generations.
Daniel Winter the Head Gardener brief biography: I started at Evenley in November 2020 as Head Gardener after working for 13 years at Oxford University Parks, where I worked my way up from Supervisor to Superintendent. Prior to that, after leaving horticultural college, I worked for Waterperry Gardens for 6 years as the plant propagator and then as nursery manager. I also worked at Waddesdon plant nursery and Tusmore Park as a Senior Gardener.
Please note Buckinghamshire Gardens Trust is planning a walk and talk event at Evenley for the Spring/Summer Events programe in 2025. This visit will replace the “washed out” May 2024 visit which had to be postponed.
Complementary Ticket – all members who attend this talk will be given one complementary ticket they may use at a future Winter Series talk.
