The Gardens Trust October Lectures

October 1 @ 12:00 am - October 31 @ 12:00 am

October Events

“As the weather changes and the evenings start to draw in why not join us on  one of our new lecture series. It’s a busy month!

On Monday evenings our Commercial Gardening series takes a long look at Veitches,  the most significant British nursery of all time, and their plant hunters.  Tuesday mornings brings a second series on Garden Archaeology,  looking at the very latest findings from investigations- some still ongoing – from a range of sites around the country including Stowe and Nostell Priory.  And then it’s Surrey’s turn to share some Unforgettable Gardens on Wednesday evenings.

We’re continuing our collaboration with FOLAR with lectures on 20th century commercial landscapes on Tuesday evening,  and starting a new partnership with the Japanese Garden Society.  We’re also hosting Essex Gardens Trust’s 25th anniversary lecture by Matthew Wilson, and a joint venture in aid of the National Gardens Scheme and the Sussex and Kent County Gardens Trusts with Caroline Holmes.

Finally there are two free events organized by our Historic Landscape Project.  The first is about  how volunteers can contribute to Local Heritage Lists to highlight & protect locally significant historic designed landscapes introduced by Victoria Thomson, Head of National Strategy at Historic England. The second  is an informal session for owners, managers & supporters of historic designed landscapes to share ideas for celebrating ‘Unforgettable Gardens’

In other words there’s something for everyone!

Please look at Other Events or the Gardens Trust website. All Bucks Gardens Trust members are affiliated members of the umbrella organization Gardens Trust and can register for courses, lectures etc.
