Langley Park Launch
11am to 5pm, Sunday 25 July
Towards the south of the refilled lake (April 2010)
There is a special day Planned at Langley Park with all sorts of attractions to celebrate the completion of the Langley Park Restoration project. Starting at 11am with speeches, there will be all sorts of entertainments in the park throughout the day. We have press cuttings relating to the restoration dating back at least to 1996 so it is good to see progress has been made. Perhaps the most significant elements are the refurbishment of Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown’s lake and the continuing rejuvenation of the rhododendron gardens, stage 2 in a five year rotation. Stoke Poges Memorial Gardens get Grade I Listing
Our congratulations go to all at Stoke Poges Memorial Gardens which has recently been upgraded from Grade II a garden of ‘merely’ national importance (of which there are some 1600) to Grade I representing the top 10% and considered to be of both exceptional historic importance and of international importance. This is especially impressive as a lot of the listing value depends on condition, and therefore reflects especially on the input of Graham Pattison, head gardener. It is also unusual in that it has been very difficult to add or alter listings on the EH Register in recent years. (8/12/2009)
Amendment to Bucks Gardens Trust Spring Talks 2010
Unfortunately Dr Elizabeth Macaulay Lewis is now unable to give her talk on Ars Topiaria: The art of design and the ancient Roman Garden originally scheduled for Saturday 27 March 2010. However, following our inspirational and eye-opening visit to The Milton Keynes Parks Trust in November 2009
David Foster, Chief Executive of the Trust has kindly agreed to give a talk on Saturday 27 March entitled Milton Keynes: the culmination of the Garden City movement. Full details of this and our other Spring Talks can be found on our events page. (6/12/2009)
Slide show
We have added a slide show to the contact us page of the website with examples of some of the many exciting gardens in Buckinghamshire, some not open to the public. We will be adding new slides to this at regular intervals. (25/11/2009)
